INNOVATION CENTER FOR ENERGY AND TRANSPORTATION
iCET, EFC and CCTP successfully held the Zero Emissions Mobility workshop of the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco

The Energy Foundation China, iCET and the China Clean Transportation Partnership (CCTP) teamed up and organized a Zero-Emissions Mobility workshop in San Francisco on September 12. The workshop was held as a side event to the Global Climate Action Summit 2018.

In the wake of Climate Change’s grave threats on human society, and as personal transportation contributes an increasing share of greenhouse gas emissions, the Zero Emissions Mobility workshop was designed for thought-leaders, entrepreneurs and policy makers from US, China and Europe to discuss how achieving zero-emission mobility can be enabled by technology and policy innovation.

To that end the workshop was comprised of three panel discussions: the first was dedicated to the relationship between fuel economy and zero emission vehicle credit policies (from a US and a China perspective), the second was focused on transition pathways to a new mobility era given the three core revolutions in transportation (electrification, automation/connectivity, and sharing) and the evolving ecosystem that accommodates this transition, and finally - a public-private collaboration that would secure a Mobility as a Sustainable Service (MaaSS) future was framed in the third panel.

Dr. Feng An, Founder and Executive Director of the Innovation Center for Energy and Transportation (iCET), David Hochschild, Commissioner of the California Energy Commission (CEC), and Anand Gopal, the Transportation Program Officer of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation Environment Program gave opening remarks. Panelists included representatives from Mobike, Uber, Lyft, Via, Populus.ai, SFCTA, SEA-China, GIZ, World Economic Forum, EV100-China, BYD, Faraday Future, UC Davis 3Revolutions, and the icct. This diverse mix of panelists from the private, public and academic sectors was accompanied with seasoned and well-informed moderators from Bloomberg New Energy, Climate Works, and the Energy Foundation China.
