iCET was invited to present the US bio-energy investment opportunities (part of its UCCTC work) in China’s 2014 International Bio-Energy Summit which was held in Beijing on September 16-18. Among participants and attendees of this pivotal bioenergy communication platform were leaders from the National Energy Administration (NEA) of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, as well as over 300 industry representatives.
Ms Kang Liping, highlighted the US government is fostering bio-energy growth through policy and financial incentives, catering for promising future market prospects. Ms. Kang recommended similar regulatory frameworks for China, as well as a market-based mechanism that would ensure sound industry development. iCET is striving to promote bioenergy technology transfer and collaboration between China and US. The event, co-organized by Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA), the Biomass Energy Subcommittee of Chinese Renewable Energy Society, China National Renewable Energy Center (CNREC), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and others, comprising one of China’s core bio-energy events.
